Reiki

<Reiki is "spiritually guided life force energy".

To be honest I have had my doubts in the power of Reiki and if this “laying on hands”, really works!  I received my Level 1 Attunement in Reiki several years ago and have done Reiki on myself and my children.  My daughter says that it feels good.  I have practiced Reiki on students in Restorative Workshops and havep>According to the International Center for Reiki Training, Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki is made up of two Japanese words, Rei-“God’s wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki- ‘life force energy” Therefore had some of them comment to me that it helped them to feel better.  Sometimes I think touch is what we all long for and maybe, that the touch along with the compassion I am offering them is what they are feeling and is helping them to feel better.

During a recent class I offered Reiki to everyone.  I am always setting the intention to allow energy to flow through me from God, or the Higher Power to the receiver.  At the conclusion of this class a student who, was one of the last to receive the Reiki, commented that when I started she could feel the energy in the room come to a calm, restful state.  I’ve had others comment that they have felt an amazing feeling come over there body and that afterwards they feel wonderful.

I will continue to practice Reiki with my family and my students even if I have some slight doubts for the pure joy of offering loving kindness to others and maybe there is some wonderful God or Higher Power Energy flowing.
