Taking Your Yoga Practice Outdoors

Early this summer on a warm sunny day,  I taught Yoga at Mockingbird Meadows, a local honey and herb farm.  It was an amazing experience to practice Tree pose while gazing at a tree.  While the students were in Savasana a Hummingbird alighted on the tree above their mats.  This experience sparked me to take my daily practice outdoors.  It is such a grounding and nurturing experience to practice amongst the trees, flowers and birds and to have the fresh morning breeze blow over me.   During the summer with a house full of noise, this practice outdoors has offered me  my much-needed time of solitude to just be in my body and focus on my breath.    I invite you to take your practice outdoors in the early morning.  Please remember to not practice in direct sunlight and if it is too hot for your comfort level.

Enjoy and let me know about your Yoga in nature experiences.

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.  ~Kahlil Gibran
