Inhale, Exhale, Pause

2012-06-14 20.05.51

Filling up, emptying, stillness.  Taking in, letting go, bliss.  This powerful breath practice has fostered me through many moments of restlessness and anxiety.  This time of year can be difficult for me and when it is time to go to sleep even though, I’m sleepy, my mind starts to race.  I turn to this breath practice to calm my mind and relax my nervous system.  It is in the pause that I find a moment of absence of thought, freedom from fear, a moment of relief.  When the practice is repeated, it culminates into several moments of inner peace and allows me to drift into a deep sleep.  In the pause, I can be in the now, in the present moment.  Which I know this is the only moment I have, the only moment any of us have.  When you lay down to sleep or any time you find your mind racing, I invite you to notice your breath and notice the pause between the exhalation  and the inhalation, not a holding of your breath, just a natural pause.   Notice the stillness, the peace.

“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”  Thich Nhat Hanh

  1. Hello! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog.

Is it difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but
I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not
sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions?
    Thank you

    1. WordPress walks you through. I also spent time as I’m not very tech savy playing with things until finally things displayed as I wanted them. Watch the tutorials on WordPress too. Hang in there!

  2. Plus-sized women are not the only ones plagued by double chins-far from it, in fact, though that’s a common misconception.
What is motivating is seeing pictures of Stallone doing the exercises and still looking
in shape. Using the same machine day-in, day-out can get a little
boring. Start now to make a conscious choice to do at least one thing
that you can do in an outstanding way. It is time to reinvent yourself and become
the person you’ve always wanted to be.

  3. I drop a leave a response each time I appreciate a post on a site or if I have something to valuable to
contribute to the discussion. Usually it’s a result of the sincerness displayed in the article I looked
at. And after this post Inhale, Exhale, Pause | Yoga and Inspiration.
I was moved enough to post a thought 😉 I actually do have a couple of questions for
you if you don’t mind. Is it just me or do some of these remarks
appear like they are coming from brain dead visitors?

😛 And, if you are writing at additional social
sites, I would like to keep up with anything new you have to post.
Could you make a list the complete urls of your community sites like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?

  4. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought
this post was great. I don’t know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if
you are not already 😉 Cheers!

  5. An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a friend who has been doing a little research on this.

And he actually ordered me breakfast simply because I stumbled upon it for
him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thanks for the meal!!
But yeah, thanx for spending some time to discuss this issue here
    on your blog.

  6. Hi to all, the contents present at this weeb page are genuinely remarkable for people experience, well, keep up the good

  7. I just like the helpful information you supply for your articles.
I’ll bookmark your weblog and take a look at once more
here regularly. I’m slightly certain I’ll be
